Why I’m Turning My Art Into Digital Products

Spread the love

If you’ve been following my recent launch, you’ve seen the cozy chaos of my Fall Harvest Collection come to life, from sticker sheets to seasonal prints. 🍂

But here's the thing: while I love designing physical products, I’m making a big shift behind the scenes… I’m turning many of my fall designs into digital products.

Why I’m Turning My Art Into Digital Products? Because I’m learning how to wear all the hats, and digital makes that so much easier.

Wearing All the Hats Is… a Lot

This is my first real Etsy launch with a theme of products. And while I’m proud of what I’ve built, I'm only one person, and I have lots of responsibilities.

I haven't really had any spare time to devote to my shop because I have been busy building out the website, setting up social media profiles, and trying to grow my audience.

That is on top of having a toddler, teens, husband, and an additional job. Oh yeah and I just got handed a chronic illness diagnosis, so, I have a lot going on.

I know you get that because chances are you have your own mountain of stuff you are dealing with as well!

how Do I work Smarter Not Harder?

I am a very hard worker, always have been, but I'm a professional at taking the hard road, and my brain doesn't always understand the path of least resistance.

I've had to have a heart-to-heart with myself, and at the urging of my husband, who is worried about how much time I'm spending on business, I needed to develop a new plan. I have to learn to work smarter, not harder.

I started asking:
❓What if I could deliver my art instantly?
❓What if I could turn each piece of art into additional products more quickly?
❓What if I could reach more people without starting from scratch every time?

That’s when I realized… digital products might be the smarter path for me and for my audience.

Digital Products Are Simpler, Faster, Kinder

The more I explored the idea, the more it made sense:

✔ No packaging waste
✔ less printer stress and no shipping delays
✔ Instant delivery for buyers (aka happy customers)
✔ Easier to scale when you’re solo (or mom-ing, or tired)

It just fits better with how I want to run my art business: simple, sustainable, and full of flexibility.

If you’re curious about the nuts and bolts of how digital products work on Etsy, here’s a great beginner’s guide from Etsy.

This Isn’t a Pivot. It’s an Evolution.

Or should I say domination? Lol, taking back control of the business, instead of letting it control me!

I’m not quitting stickers. I still love them. But shifting toward digital means I can create more than stickers, stress less, and eventually teach others how to do it too.

Because here’s the bigger dream:
I want to help creative people (especially overwhelmed moms like me) learn how to turn their doodles into digital income streams.

Not just stickers, let's get our artwork on everything! I mean stickers, notebooks, wall prints, blankets, earrings. This is just off the top of my head!

But before I teach it… I’m doing it. In real time. You’re seeing it unfold.

A chaos-friendly shortcut to cute, layered Procreate stickers — even if you’ve never opened the app before.

I created this kit because when I opened Procreate the first time, I had no clue what to tap, layer, or brush. If that’s you, you’re not behind — you’re just beginning. Let’s make it easy and fun.

Grab your starter file, brushes & layer guide. Let’s make stickers!

If you’ve been thinking about trying Procreate or starting your own creative side hustle, I’ve got you:

Grab my free Procreate Starter Kit — it’s what I wish I had when I first opened the app.

It’s beginner-friendly, stress-free, and perfect if you’ve ever dreamed of turning your art into something you can sell (or just create for fun).

Now it is based on a layered sticker file, but the good news is a lot of the same principles apply when we are talking layering, coloring, and exporting.

You can see the step-by-step process I use to create a completed sticker in Procreate and grab a layering cheat sheet, along with the sticker outline brush I use and a couple of cute stamp brushes.

After you grab the awesome starter kit,the come on over and check out Procreate Beginner Guide for Stickers That Slap. There are loads of tutorials walking you through how to create inside Procreate!

And if you want to see what this shift looks like in action, check out my Fall Harvest Sticker Design post — it’s the same art I’m now prepping for digital format!

I’m not claiming to have it all figured out. But I am figuring out how to build a creative biz that actually works for my life. And if you're on a similar path? You’re in the right place.
